Can Sastre Honeymoon Review

Location

It’s a solid 10 for the location. The secluded and romantic Agroturismo Can Sastre is so tucked away in a sleepy and pleasantly underdeveloped lush residential valley in Ibiza that you’ll most likely miss it the first time you step downstairs. The boutique hotel is a 12-minute drive from Santa Gertrudis, an extremely lively village with a busy center where people-watching and eating Iberico ham is a real sport. With Can Sastre in such an enviable location in the center of the island, getting around by car or taxi is a breeze. Ibiza Town is about 20 minutes away, as is the airport, and the marina, with the option to book PADI-certified, world-class snorkeling and diving trips at the Scuba Diving Center, is also only 15 minutes from the hotel.

First impressions

For a luxury farmhouse refurbishment, if we’ve ever been to one, there’s a really comforting sense of laid-back, timeless Ibizan glamour. Dutch couple Raymond and Bibi, who were behind the sensitive renovation, bought the beautiful property and accompanying property in 2018 and decided to devote their lives to transforming it into a seven-bedroom luxury hotel that caters to discerning travelers and their families welcomes families. Now that fairy dust has been strewn all over the finca, the agritourism is a real beauty. Guests arrive, surrounded by orange and olive trees, swaying palms and an exterior facade flanked by vibrant bougainvilleas, are greeted by friendly staff serving delicious cocktails and immediately drop their shoulders. Here you can look forward to getting back to nature while being pampered by the sun. Each suite is as romantic as the next and you will have a hard time choosing the right one as Raymond and Bibi have managed to infuse each one with boho charm and charm.

Nature plays its part perfectly in the tranquil outdoor living spaces; All you need are books, some shade, and loungers or chairs in front of your suite, and you’re good to go.

Often times, it’s the humblest of honesty bars (Can Satre’s is exceptionally good) and an empty pool that can make for even the best day. No one is there save the odd cricket or two moving in the background and the sun casting gentle shadows on the ground as you move sloppily around to sleep off weeks of wedding planning in fancy lounge chairs or low-slung hammocks while you look at the citrus groves. This is a glimpse of the happiness you’ve been looking for months and the first few days of your honeymoon are made of.

The small, sunken pool is tucked away behind lined trees, features an elaborate water feature, and is surrounded by large, plush loungers to lounge on and soak up the sun. Even at dawn you don’t have to reserve a seat; We mostly had it to ourselves during our visit. Just like us, you will enjoy the peace and quiet. But be warned, this also makes it very difficult to get off the island and do any sort of island exploration. So be sure to set aside a day or two to laze around and relax. The pool area naturally flows into the honesty bar, stocked with top-shelf spirits and beers and all the tools you need to make a good cocktail (welcome to Can Sastre).

suite dreams

CanSastre Honeymoon Review

The suites, with their country-house glamor and incredible amount of space, make this one of Ibiza’s most sought-after destinations, and Can Sastre has no interest in reinventing the wheel. Indoors, the natural world continues to permeate the seven earth-toned, luxurious rooms, designed with opulent, stylistic and rustic influences. They offer a cool take on the word ‘sanctuary’ with stunning views of the surrounding patchwork fields and rolling hills. All are ideal for honeymooners and can also accommodate families with younger children traveling as a family. Furnished here and there with treasures from the couple’s travels, local and traditional crafts and artwork also adorn walls and corners.

The minimalism of the Scandinavian style (think natural materials and clean lines) is complemented by touches of Ibizan elegance with exposed beams, crocheted textiles in white and ocher.

While part of the farmhouse, the Supreme Suite features a romantic al fresco bath and hammock, making it the ultimate honeymoon retreat, while the Casita Suite is housed in a separate stone house that’s discreetly set back from the house for a bit to offer more intimacy and seclusion.

In the Grand Suite, an oversized double vanity sits just feet from an enormous, super-king-size bed, outfitted with pillows, plush pillows, and incredibly soft linens. It is equipped with a double mattress pad and guarantees a restful sleep. The bathroom exudes a back-to-nature vibe, with bright, pristine bathrobes hanging neatly over the ornate furniture in the bedroom.

You’ll be treated to plenty of pampering goodies from high-end Dutch cosmetics brand Meraki, including eco-friendly bamboo toothbrushes and full manicure kits complete with nail clippers to brush yourself up on private terraces in front of the rooms or in the hidden sun loungers further away from the swimming pool . Can Sastre even goes a step further and provides complimentary luxury Meraki make-up towels in case you forget to pack your own and all guests receive luxury jute beach bags as gifts.

Eat

Best of all, dinner and breakfast can be taken either in the cabana or by the pool at the communal driftwood table, where friendly guests gather for sundowners most evenings. The menu is plain and simple – healthy fusion cooking in a small, sustainable kitchen. It is an experience like staying on a farm. Organic ingredients come from Ibizan farms where possible. The seasonal menus consist largely of comforting pasta dishes, tapas and pizza. Weekday BBQs are a treat during the peak summer months, and hiring a private chef is always a nice luxury option for honeymooners too.

Can Sastre Honeymoon Review

Great acai bowls and American pancakes with the juiciest strawberries are prepared in no time for breakfast and delivered either to the restaurant’s cabana, poolside or to your room. There is a good wine list to match the menu.
