The history: Fragrant roses climb crumbling stone walls, lavender bushes full of nectar-collecting bees and blooming wild flowers. There is nothing more typically English than a lush garden. This styled shoot was inspired by the floral setting of an English country garden and should be a flower lover’s dream.
The site: This shoot was against the backdrop of the charming Rose kitchen at Ludwig’s roses in South Africa. This Pretoria farm has been growing roses since March 1971 and provides a stunning backdrop for a picnic or special occasion party.
The atmosphere: Romantic and yet grown up. This garden inspiration was designed to create a floral look that is not peppy or frivolous. a simply beautiful and elegant celebration in the most natural setting. The flowers had to be natural to feel like an extension of the garden. Wild leaves flower pattern hand-picked English-style roses and blossoms from the surrounding gardens. A bespoke Berry Rose Spritz trolley was designed to encourage guests to help themselves to a hearty piece of cake.
The details: The color palette was soft and romantic – a neutral base with added layers of color and texture to show off the blooms and hues that could be found in the gardens. The stationery suite, hand lettered by Rabbit trail, set the tone for this discreetly elegant vignette in country house style. The table landscape was designed as a living table, with dishes and cutlery resting on a natural cushion made of flowers, leaves and seasonal fruits. Delicate glassware and simple cutlery completed the look alongside the bespoke stationery. The delicious little cake was designed by Aux petit four, with vanilla biscuit with a cream glaze, which was decorated with delicate flowers. Our beautiful ‘English Rose’ bride looked divine in silk organza and soft tulle, refined with heirloom headgear and jewelry from So Jy.
