The top hashtag (by views per hashtag) was “Luxury Weddings” with 26.6 million views, closely followed by “Destination Weddings”. Cottagecore weddings, casual weddings and ’60s weddings ranked third, fourth and fifth, alongside regency weddings – the latter a nod to Netflix favorite Bridgeton.
The popularity of cottagecore — an aesthetic that celebrates simple life, particularly in the country — in relation to weddings (think outdoor ceremonies, barns, fairy lights and flowers) suggests that due to the pandemic and restrictions, many Couples are looking for a more intimate and meaningful affair instead of a big wedding. Even celebs like Ariana Grande followed this trend last year with their Tiny Do.

The pandemic has not only made your wedding more personal, but also prompted a massive resurgence of nostalgia. For example, “#60sWedding” has 6,284 views on TikTok. Many brides also incorporate past wedding trends into their final wedding look.
Puff sleeves — like this number from JLM Couture — and bridal gloves are also some of this year’s most popular upcoming TikTok wedding trends, with 114.5k and 17.8k views, respectively.
