The Gilpin Hotel’s Gilpin Moons offer the ultimate in luxury in the beautiful Lake District. Truly the definition of laid-back luxury, all 30 rooms at the Gilpin Hotel offer lake views, most opening directly onto the gardens — but we recommend minimooners opt for a room with an outdoor hot tub.
These are located in six Junior Suites and six Garden Suites, which have decked or slated terraces with their own wood-clad outdoor Jacuzzis – perfect for enjoying with a glass of bubbly as newlyweds.
To really let off some steam, check out the five Spa Lodges, each with their own spa with steam rooms, hydrotherapy hot tubs, and saunas – or the even larger Spa Suites, where honeymooners can expect a bedroom that “floats” over the pond and a water view features mountains, a circular stone bath, a double shower, and a spa room with a sauna, steam room, infrared lounge bed, massage chair, and a huge outdoor hot tub.

The Gilpin Hotel’s Michelin-starred SOURCE restaurant is a must, where you can expect nine-course tasting menus. Dishes such as langoustine, roast Cornish cod and Creedy Carver duck breast are paired with sommelier-selected wines under the direction of new chef Ollie Bridgwater (formerly of Fat Duck).
Spice lovers should look to pan-Asian Gilpin Spice — with no fewer than two AA Rosettes — for flavorful curries and spiced meat and fish platters inspired by countries along the Spice Route.
The trio is completed by the new Knipe Grill at Gilpin Lake House, where sumptuous dishes such as 48-hour brisket and coal-smoked pork chop are served alongside an impressively comprehensive wine list.

In late 2022 a new spa area was added at the Gilpin Hotel where Chris worked with Sarah Jane Nielson and her team at Nielsen House to create a calming and tranquil flow throughout the spa area and a sensory journey with naturally scented and textured walls to create covers.
The scents of oils and warm, rich woods welcome you into the apothecary-inspired reception, with clues to the spice trail in the restaurant below. The natural feel flows through an open, bright meadow scene, leading to a cool, dark woodland feel in the textured treatment rooms, natural stone in the steam and shower rooms, and a bright, soothing relaxation room.
Outside two hot tubs in Garden Arwen, formed from the roots and stumps that fell during Storm Arwen, various species of woodland grasses reflect a forest floor, with woodland ferns to the north and sun-loving sedums to the south.
Choose from luxurious offerings ranging from aromatherapy massages, Walkers rituals and special ESPA experiences to facials, hot stone massages and holistic body care treatments.
