The couple will enjoy 10 nights full board accommodation at Raffles Maldives Meradhoo Resort in November 2022, including five nights in a Beachfront Pool Villa and five nights in an Overwater Villa, also with a tranquil private pool.

A real honeymoon disaster

Amelia Hayward was in Italy on her honeymoon in May 2019 but unfortunately things didn’t go as planned, she said: “We had planned a two week road trip starting at Lake Garda and heading south through the Italian countryside to the Amalfi Coast.

“I had researched the trip for days and read that May or June was the perfect time for the weather and to avoid the big crowds of tourists in midsummer.

“It wasn’t quite as warm as I like, and as we traveled south to Bologna and Florence after visiting Lake Garda, the weather got pretty terrible – we had booked hotels with pools, all of which were closed as it was on Rained most days and nights.

“The rain continued, and I mean torrential rain, and we had planned to spend the next five days exploring the wine regions of Montepulciano and Umbria, but the skies were completely gray and everywhere was incredibly calm as everyone settled down secluded inside – apparently the locals kept telling us this was the worst May weather in 45 years!

“After sitting in our room for a night watching Netflix, we were in a Tuscan villa in the middle of nowhere. We just didn’t think it would do the places justice so we canceled that leg of our trip and headed out early to the Amalfi Coast as we could see the weather was more promising.

“We still had a great time and luckily there is so much to do in Italy but you put a lot of pressure, time and money into your honeymoon to be the best trip of your life and envisioned exactly how you would like it to be.” on social media and make every effort to stay in the best hotel and have an unforgettable experience.

“The hardest part was not appreciating the stunning scenery and ‘hype’ I’ve seen on small visits to Italy before, but we plan to explore Umbria at some point in the future and agreed we’d just do it so should take a good sign…’terrible honeymoon…great marriage’!”

• A shortlist of successful applicants is then forwarded to the second phase, which requires a video application
• In the final phase, an independent judge will decide which lucky couple will win the Extend Your Honeymoon contest
• The honeymoon will take place in November 2022 for ten nights, specific dates to be announced.
