Patrick Alexander, the CEO and founder of Balambico, founded the company in 2012. A name derived from his childhood nickname Balambi, Patrick wanted to share his vision of Balambico with the world.

Patrick came from the island of Dominica in the Caribbean and has always had a passion for knowledge. With the aim of reaching greatness, Patrick emigrated to America in 2000, where he studied computer science and mathematics. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Miami in 2011, where he discovered his love for entrepreneurship.

We met Patrick to learn all about digital transformation and his journey with Balambico.

Who is your target group and how do you find your customers?

“Our product can be used by anyone who could benefit from digital marketing. We have most of our customers in the service industry like hospitality, doctors, plastic surgeons, etc. We also share our product with other digital marketers or agencies so they can share it with their customers too. “

Given the tough competition in the market, what makes Bico Marketing different from the crowd?

“Bico Marketing offers everything you need on one platform. While there are many tools out there, there isn’t a single one platform can do everything, like Bico Marketing. the platform is also very analytical and data driven which will help you make informed decisions for your business.

The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly increased the need for digitization. It has had a devastating impact on some while some businesses have thrived in recent years. How did Bico Marketing meet this challenge?

“We are blessed that the pandemic has not affected us negatively. Digital marketing has generally evolved across the pandemic and we have been fortunate to sail this ship. Of course we were faced with challenges at the beginning, but we continued to face challenges. “We’ve done well over the past few years.”

Leading a team is not difficult, let alone leading a remote team. How do you manage to stay at the top and promote innovation in your team?

“I encourage my team to continue learning through webinars, podcasts, meetups, or books. I challenge them to do these things and stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit. In addition, I give them full responsibility for doing the work as they see fit, but I hold them accountable for it. Ultimately, the customer is always right, so we need to balance our culture and the customer’s needs.

What growth strategy are you pursuing in the post-pandemic period?

“The growth strategy is to get the word out and keep doing what we do and focus on sales. We’ll pay close attention to the marketing on Linkedin and look again at what got us where we are with referrals and networking. “

In the further course we got to know Patrick a little better. Let’s see what he had to say.

Can you name a leader or mentor who has helped you or influenced your life?

“My first mentor was probably my grandfather. He was an all-rounder. He was a man everyone loved and one of the nicest people there was. He was a fisherman, bricklayer, carpenter, farmer, cook; he did everything that could be imagined. He was someone I always looked up to and the grandfather I want to be. He even played drums and was a national icon for it. He inspired me to be who I am and I am grateful to him for that. ”

What kind of change would you like to see in the digital marketing industry?

“I want the industry to be regulated so that everyone gets a fair chance. But beyond that, I want the status quo to stay the same so that we can continue to innovate and improve in the industry. We can’t compete with the big guns right now, and we’re literally at their mercy, so I’d love to see a divide where they have to split the cake and split among other small businesses like us.

You have been doing this since 2012; What is it that motivates you to come here every day and perform as you are used to?

“I’m happy to see our customers win. It’s exciting to see how our customers increase their sales. I really enjoy the sales process. I enjoy having onboarding conversations with prospects and seeing the results over time. Having a math background, I love seeing how the numbers work for our customers and that makes me excited about working for our customers. “
