The history: the queen‘s house was the perfect setting for this contemporary wedding editorial, inspired by the beauty and ambience of baroque still life paintings. Styled to call up a curated setup for a painting, it’s like stepping into an artistic moment.

The site: The Royal Museums Greenwich offers a number of unique historical venues for special occasions. the queen‘s house was originally designed by Inigo Jones for Anne of Denmark, wife of James I. It is home to the famous tulip staircase, a spiral staircase that leads up through the building under a glass lantern, the first centrally unsupported spiral staircase in the UK. From the 1670s the Queen’s House was used as a residence for royal servants and artists. More recently, it has housed some of the museum’s finest artwork.

The atmosphere: Layers of texture and light brought this design to life, much like a painting. Rich colors and luxurious details. The mood and color palette was inspired by the fall-winter season to highlight the beauty of a winter wedding. The seasonal colors of rich greens, deep purples, dramatic oranges and reds have been brought to life with romantic pinks, blushes and brass metallic tones.

The details: The table landscape is a magical unit of classic and contemporary design. Lush velvets in gray and gold, matt silks in the forest and rust-washed linen. Wild, natural flower arrangements, textured bed linen, antique brass vessels and rustic ironstone dishes stand alongside shiny gold cutlery, delicate parchment paper, smooth graphite bed linen and chic smoked glass. The floral design of Bloomology Put the whole look together and with British seasonal flowers, the overflowing urns are a work of art in themselves. For the Bridal looks, Charlie Brear designed the perfect gold adorned dress – sexy and stylish – perfect for an evening winter wedding. And the modern baroque bride wouldn’t be caught without her indispensable accessories; Giant pearls, some shiny gold and a “more is more” attitude.
