The history: This shoot was created with those couples in mind who have had to cut back on their wedding plans and / or are struggling with the availability of venues due to the pandemic. The goal of this shoot was also to create something that feels new and different. It shows how you can create an equally elegant style with a bold color palette.
The site: The Lanesborough, London. This central London property in Knightsbridge is a 5-star hotel synonymous with elegance and luxury. Steeped in history and formerly known as Lanesborough House, The Lanesborough opened its doors as a luxury hotel on December 30, 1991. This is the best of the British with classic, understated Regency style and top notch service.
The atmosphere: Absolute English with a touch of the tropics. The floral design was carefully curated by The flower editor to give the feeling of a travel destination for couples who could not host their wedding abroad. The lively styling stands out from the Regency environment, but also complements it and conveys a feeling of summer time.
The details: The room was set up for 30 guests to demonstrate how to chat with the two sides across the table with a long table for that number. The central showpiece was the breathtaking wedding cake from Unique cakes from Yvenig placed in the middle of the table. Care was taken to select strong and vibrant seasonal flowers. As a tribute to the English summer, fruits were incorporated into the table design. The strawberries and peaches give an extra luxurious touch and are reminiscent of opulent celebrations of bygone times. The green pallets form a wonderful bridge between old and new.
Tips & highlights:
- When you work with such a bold color palette, make sure that all the colors in the room and around the table complement each other.
- Take color elements from your floral palette and incorporate an element into the wedding cake or stationery to make sure all the colors come together to create a finished look.
- Presenting your cake as the centerpiece is a wonderful way to incorporate such an important element of your wedding day and make it a highlight for your guests.
