The history: Annabelle and Andree were friends of friends at university and then crossed paths again a few years later…the rest is history! The couple had a downsized wedding (the wedding had gone from 200 to 30) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but decided to invest in things like beautiful tableware for each of their guests. They got the best of both worlds, a smaller formal intimate ceremony followed by a big party that allowed them to focus a lot more on the smaller details that made the day so much more personal.
The site: A marquee at the bride’s family home. Annabelle and Andrew wanted to get married at their family church, which was a few minutes’ walk from the venue. The pastor baptized the bride and her siblings and married her sister in 2018. He came out of retirement especially to perform the wedding. It was also important to them that the bar was right next to the dance floor, which wasn’t the case at some of the other locations they explored. Priorities!
The atmosphere: An English village wedding. Embrace the comforts of home and celebrate history, family and tradition.
The details: This wedding used a color palette of fairly muted tones with lots of soft gray tones of blue, greens and the traditional white. One of the most striking design elements was the beautiful place settings with personalized stationery. The stationery featured a bespoke monogram designed for her by a graphic designer friend. Taking a cue from Andrew’s family name “Foxwell,” the designer sketched a fox surrounded by bluebells, which was a nod to Annabelle’s name.
Tips & Highlights:
- Once their ceremony was complete, the wedding party and congregation marched down the village’s main street back to the house for the reception. This created a real sense of occasion and was a great way for guests to mingle.
- Renting a marquee allowed Annabelle and Andrew to personalize their wedding, designing each element with their suppliers and making it their own.
- With around 24 wedding service providers involved, hiring a wedding planner to run the event on the big day was crucial. She worked with the bride and groom six weeks prior, making sure everything ran smoothly so they could relax and enjoy.
