Every bride (or groom!) Wants to feel beautiful and confident on their wedding day. No matter what your bridal style, glowing skin and a flawless base are a must. As with all wedding details, we know preparing your skin takes care and planning – that’s why we consulted with skin care expert Katherine Taylor, founder of The Skin Gym, to find out how you can achieve glowing, glowing skin with simple changes Your skin can achieve great days.

What problems do most brides come to you with and how do you solve them?
I treat many clients struggling with pimples, which is very rewarding when we can improve their skin and confidence before the big day. We treat outbreaks with a holistic approach that includes both internal and external factors. This can include taking supplements as well as topical skin care and treating other factors such as stress.
What products / ingredients do you think are beneficial to add to your pre-wedding routine?
The first thing I would recommend is getting the basics down. This would involve a routine that starts with a cleanser formulated for your skin problem, vitamin A (retinol), moisturizer, and always SPF! Using these products is a great starting point that we build on with skin-specific boosters and serums and ingredients like peptides (to improve texture and elasticity), alpha hydroxy acids (for exfoliating), and vitamin C (to even provide antioxidant protection) skin tone and improves skin radiance).
Compared to a winter bride, what advice would you give a summer bride about skin care and treatments before the big day?
Each client’s skin is unique, so my advice varies depending on how their skin changes from season to season. In general, however, the skin can become easily dry or dehydrated during the winter months. For a shiny glow, I would recommend adding moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid for extra moisture and ceramides to lock in moisture.
For summer brides – or any seasonal bride – SPF is a non-negotiable protection of your skin against UVA / B rays. I would also recommend using ingredients like vitamin C to give your skin a healthy glow. Vitamin C can also help improve uneven skin tones, texture, fine lines, and acne scars, making it a perfect all-rounder to add to your routine.
What treatments do you think are most effective and how long before the wedding should a bride start her routine to get the maximum results?
At Skin Gym we have put together wedding packages from 12 months to 6 weeks before the wedding date. We believe that skin analysis is the cornerstone of successful wedding skin, so we make sure that every client goes through this process to create their bespoke program.
All of our treatments and skin care are result-oriented. We use a combination of medical skin care and innovative high-tech treatments such as sonophoresis, skin peelings, LED light therapy and SkinPen skin needling. Find out more about the Skin Gym treatments here.
In an ideal world, we would try to work with a client 6-12 months before the wedding as it gives ample time to see physical changes in the skin.

What is your general tip for skin care before a wedding / event?
First of all, I would recommend a detailed skin consultation with a skin therapist. It’s a minefield out there with hundreds of different products and one size doesn’t fit all, so I would always suggest seeking expert advice. It is easy to access good advice from a respected skin professional as many have now opened virtual consultations online.
Don’t be tempted to try something just before the wedding. It takes approximately 10-12 weeks for results to be seen. So if you leave it until the week before, there could be room for residual redness on the big day.
If your budget allows, you can treat yourself to monthly facials regularly to intensify the results of the treatments or to improve your skin. If not, don’t worry, the cornerstone of healthy, glowing skin is consistent home skin care regimen. If you have mastered your basic routine, you are on the way to beautiful bridal skin.
