A spokesperson for Design packages commented on the results:

“It’s fascinating to see the search for black wedding dresses grow, especially when typing in an icon like Vera Wang. This, coupled with the fact that many brides were looking for alternatives to the big, white dress during the pandemic, suggests that the black dress trend will persist.

Another influence was that celebrities wore darker dresses for their big day. Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker did it in 1997. Selling Sunset star Christine Quinn most recently wore a black ensemble for her big day in 2020.

These celebrity weddings show how black can represent regal elegance and sophistication. Because of this, many also choose black for other special occasions. As a color, black offers a bolder look. It’s also a shade that flatters any body type and is compatible with all traditional wedding dresses, but is especially appealing to those looking for an alternative look.
