The history: A modern Victorian occasion to inspire those who want to incorporate historical elements into their wedding day in a modern and elegant style. Draw on the Victorian period, this event tries to bring the past into the present.
The site: Founded in 1882 National Liberal Club built what was London’s largest purpose-built clubhouse at the time of construction. Steeped in history, beautiful architecture and breathtaking views over London, it’s a great new wedding venue in the city. The stunning staircase is the largest cantilevered marble staircase in Europe and an incredible place for wedding portraits.
The atmosphere: From stunning jewelry to exquisite dresses and beautiful flowers, this celebration is all about the subtleties. A poet, Sally Wilkes from Rhymes to rememberHe was commissioned to write a poem about the couple’s love story. Floral installations with unusual flowers like proteas have been used on the chimneys, stairs and table decorations to give a modern touch.
The details: The beautiful corset dress from Tatiana Porembova with off shoulder sleeves is a modern take on a Victorian style dress. Paired with a double veil, this was a nod to more traditional wedding elements. Rachel Sokhal’s stunning shoulder piece complemented the dress and added a surprising element to this look. Two more dresses were featured in the shoot, one with a detachable long skirt that might appeal to modern brides who want more than one look on their wedding day. Cameo jewelry grew in popularity during the Victorian era and both the cake and stationery suite were based on it, with a silhouette of the couple used as the centerpiece on the cake and invitations.
Highlights:
- Since the space was great, the decor was kept simple but elegant which meant it didn’t feel too cluttered or cluttered.
- The main color palette for this shoot consisted of Burgundy, Dusty Rose, and Cinnamon Rose. When working with burgundy, it is important to pay attention to a good mix of softer tones (here the pink colors) so that the burgundy does not become too dominant.
- The ceremony included a Unity Candle Ceremony. This is used as a symbolic representation of the connection between two lives. Nikki of Perfect Words Ceremonies explained the symbolism as follows: “Although you have formed an association, you still retain your individuality, which enables you to create and strengthen the relationship of your association. Therefore, all three candles remain lit. Your custom candles represent everything that makes each of you the wonderful and unique person that the other admires and respects. The Unity candle in the middle symbolizes the union of your life, your families and friends as well as your commitment to one another and to a lasting and loving marriage.
