With Halloween just around the corner and more than 40,000 weddings taking place over Halloween weekend, these are 13 of the UK’s most haunted houses and castles that double as wedding venues, perfect for a Halloween wedding.

Halloween is usually known as the time of year dedicated to the celebration of the dead, which could seem like a daunting time of year to get married.
However, there are 13% more Brits planning to tie the knot on Halloween this year than in 2021, with 2,078 weddings planned for Friday 28th October to Monday 31st October 2022, according to data from Hitched.
Almost a quarter (24%) say they would be happy to get married in a haunted house or castle and with thousands of Brits searching online for ‘castle weddings’ and ‘haunted castles’ (1,000 monthly searches) across the UK each month, we reveal 13 Spookiest Wedding Venues for a Halloween Wedding.
The 13 best spooky wedding locations in the UK for a Halloween wedding
Warwick Castle, Warwickshire
Who wouldn’t want to get married in one of the most iconic castles in British history? But be warned; The legendary Warwick Castle has more than a few skeletons in its closet.
One of the many supernatural tenants is Sir Fulke Greville, a tower resident who is said to have been murdered by his servant. If that doesn’t put you off, make things extra spooky by going on Halloween — you might even catch a séance or two.
Alnwick Castle, Northumberland
Alnwick Castle is an unforgettable wedding venue with a magical twist; This site was also referred to as Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
If that’s not spooky enough for you, the castle is also said to be home to a hunchbacked vampire who roams the grounds spreading disease – remember to bring a mask!
Wollaton Hall, Nottinghamshire
The incredible Grade II listed Elizabethan Wollaton Hall is a regular haunt of ghost hunters eager to hear the murmuring voices in the corridors and catch a glimpse of the White Lady in Room 19.
Visitors for more romantic reasons can choose from several impressive settings such as the Great Hall.
Blickling Hall, Norfolk
This National Trust wedding venue is set in the grounds of a medieval mansion rumored to be the birthplace of the famous Anne Boleyn.
If you want to add some extra spooky factor to your big day, celebrate on May 19th, the anniversary of her execution and said to be the best time to see her headless ghost.
Pendennis Castle, Cornwall
Green fields, sea views and a historic venue that’s part of the English Heritage Group make Pendennis Castle a beautiful wedding location – but there’s more here than meets the eye.
A variety of spooky noises have been reported here over the years, including children’s laughter, footsteps on the stairs and the terrifying screams of the former kitchen maid ‘Maud’. With more than 10,000 photos on the hashtag, this haunted castle is also the most Instagrammable.
Amberley Castle, West Sussex
Adventurous couples should definitely consider tying the knot at the listed 12th-century Amberley Castle.
It has twelve acres of landscaped gardens, medieval stonework and enough space for up to 250 guests; 251 if you include the resident ghost Emily, a young girl said to be hanging around the Herstmonceux room.
Lumley Castle, Durham
Considered the most haunted place in County Durham, this 14th-century manor house is a truly eerie place. The ghost of Lady Lily Lumley is likely an uninvited guest, along with the mischievous Phantom Black Jack, who loves to play tricks on guests.
Lumley Castle itself is beautiful, so if you want a picturesque wedding, book it…if you dare!
Farnham Castle, Surrey
This scenic wedding venue has more than one supernatural guest. Farnham Castle is said to be home to a spooky monk, phantom-like voices and ghostly children running across the upper balcony.
If you’re lucky (or unlucky), you might even catch a glimpse of the shadowy figure that haunts the guard room and the young girl who lives on the stairs…!
