Simple yet extremely effective, minimalist bouquets are a trend that has gripped the 2022 wedding season and will continue to rise.

The hashtag #minimalistbride has garnered a staggering 7 million views on TikTok, and both Nicola and Kourtney opted for simple bouquets made up of just a few stems.

Neutral floral centerpieces are taking center stage this wedding season. These arrangements, which follow a neutral palette with touches of color, make for a nice talking point during the celebrations. Kourtney Kardashian and groom Travis Barker’s prenuptial lunch centerpieces featured an arrangement of white flowers and yellow lemons to maintain the Italian theme.

Floral experts at Flying Flowers commented: “We will see an increase in the use of floral centerpieces at weddings over the coming months, particularly at outdoor ceremonies and celebrations where aspects of nature merge with the theme.

“We suggest adding eucalyptus to your floral arrangement as they are great for keeping the focal point of your arrangement on the flowers while adding those earthy tones.”

Again, in keeping with the neutral and minimalist theme taking over the wedding season, floral crowns have also seen a resurgence.

Google searches for bridal flower crowns jumped a whopping 9,900% after Brooklyn Beckham’s sister Harper wore one as a flower girl to the wedding.

Floral arrangements just keep getting bigger and better this wedding season. They quickly become the perfect accessory to add a big touch to the interior without being distracting.

Nicola Peltz-Beckham’s large display of white orchids softened the space and created a soothing focal point around her dress.

One of the most talked about celebrity couples is Justin and Hailey Bieber. The two officially tied the knot in 2019, but have set bridal trends for years to come, and a floral arch is a trend that’s here to stay.

While Hailey and Justin reportedly spent $300,000 on wedding flowers, there’s no need to get so extravagant as flower arches are offered by many florists these days.

Flying Flowers analyzed Google search volume and trends to collect data for this piece.

Top tips for choosing your florist and flowers

Choose Wedding Bouquet

Your flowers share your journey down the aisle and appear in many photos. Whether you make them a focal point or not, they still have to be fabulous.

Find your flowers

Start with the seasons. While you can have flowers flown in from far corners of the world, we recommend working with the flowers that will naturally bloom when you get married. You will appear fresh, vibrant and naturally in harmony with the landscape around you in the photos. You should also save money since you’re not paying for airline miles.

Petals may be pretty, but don’t neglect the foliage. Some of the best bouquets blend greenery and blossoms to an enchanting effect. The shades of green, silver, and blue that foliage can bring will add depth to your bouquet. Adding succulents and herbs has been very popular in recent months.

Above all, your bouquet of flowers looks best next to your dress. It goes without saying that the style and shape of your flowers must match your dress. Think hand-tied tow arrangements for rustic or bohemian brides. More compact bouquets of roses, peonies or hydrangeas complement a more structured dress.

It’s often the part you least want to consider when planning a wedding, but you also need to keep your budget in mind. Starting with seasonal flowers is a good way to avoid paying a premium, but there are other options. If you have a green thumb then try sourcing some of your flowers wholesale and arranging them yourself. You don’t have to do them all, you might just decide to arrange the reception yourself and leave the bouquets to the professionals.

Alternatively, you can spend less by choosing buds with larger flower heads. The larger flower size means you need less of them to make a bouquet of the same size, so costs can be kept down. This approach works especially well for bridesmaid bouquets, which often have simpler designs.

Find your florist

Once you get enough floral inspiration from wedding ideas, Pinterest and Instagram (we Everyone do it!), go on your journey and find the florist who will make these ideas a reality. You must be within budget and available for your wedding date. However, the real key to success here is matching your florist to the flowers you want.

Ask for flower portfolios from as many different local florists as possible. You are looking for a florist who is experienced in creating flowers in a similar style to what you want yourself.

While good florists can lend a hand to any look, many have their own styles and preferences, so you’ll likely want to find the florist that fits your wedding theme and bridal style.

And if after all that you’re still not a fan of flowers or you have an allergy, why not go with a bouquet of crystals, buttons or fabric faux instead! When it comes to wedding flowers, there really is something for every bride.
